On June 28, 2024, Boassa hosted a warm meeting between the Faso Koom association and the women’s coordination of Boassa. The objective? To inform the community about a project that promises to improve access to drinking water: the construction of three water points in the unallocated area of the 7th arrondissement of Ouagadougou.
On July 4, 2024, a dynamic team gathered to visit potential sites. Composed of representatives from Faso Koom, a technician from the National Water and Sanitation Office (ONEA), as well as committed community members, this mission identified five sites deemed suitable for the installation of the water points.
The mission began with constructive discussions with the President of the Women’s Coordination and an active member. Together, they discussed the criteria for site selection. After confirming that a consensus had been reached, the delegation proceeded to the various locations for an in-depth visit.
Before launching this crucial project, it was essential to meet with the neighborhood chief. Thus, the site visits were followed by a meeting with Malgue-Naaba, the neighborhood chief, who expressed his unwavering support for the project.
Potential sites for the installation of three (03) water points.
Five sites were evaluated for the installation of the water points. Although the first site was disqualified due to its proximity to an ONEA water point, the others presented various advantages and disadvantages in terms of accessibility and location. All remain serious options for the project.
It is important to highlight that this project for the construction of water points is funded by a donation from the Dutch Water Agency @ Hunze en Aa’s (waterschap) to the Faso Koom Association. This support demonstrates the commitment of partners to improve access to drinking water for the residents of Boassa.
