In application of article 19 of the orientation law on water management, the delimitation of the national territory into hydrographic basins and sub-basins was made by decree n°2003-285/PRES/PM/MAHRH of June 09, 2003. The national river basins are: the Nakanbé, the Mouhoun, the Niger and the Comoé.
